Radiant heating sytems continue to increase in popularity and one of the more frequent questions we hear is what floors will work with my radiant heating system? Listed in order below are the floors we recommend and support and those we do not for use over low temp radiant heating systems.
IMPORTANT - With all radiant heating systems the system must be run and tested for no less than seven days prior to installation commences. The hardwood flooring must be allowed to acclimate to the room(s) with the system running.
Recommended & Supported Products
- All quartersawn solid products
- All engineered floors with wear layers of 4mm or greater and a 1/2" or greater total thickness
- Solid wood floors (plainsawn) 3-1/4" or less in width excluding the following species:
- Hard Maple
We DO NOT Recommend or Support the Following Products for Radiant Heat
- Solid products, excluding quartersawn, 4" or wider in width
- Engineered products less than 1/2" overall or with wear layers of less than 4mm
- Engineered products with a rotary-peeled wear layer
- Other products not specifically recommended here
