T - astragals go between two doors. One side is fixed, the door shuts on the other side. (straight astragals are in the planton section) |
| BACKOUTS |
Relieves the back of the wood to help with cupping and warping. Allows for airflow. |
| BAR RAIL |
A rail set along outside edge of a bar. Your arms rest on this. |
| BASE |
Installs on bottom of the wall. Butts into the Casing. |
| BASE CAP |
A Smaller piece to added onto an existing base, used to make Base height/design more extravagant. |
| BASE SHOE |
Goes along the bottom of the base. Would cover any gaps between base and an uneven floor. |
| BED MOULDS |
Similar to Crowns, but used mainly on furniture. |
| BEVELS |
Bevels for Crowns and Champhers, zero to ninety degrees. |
| BRICK MOULDS |
Goes outside the Main Entrance of a door. Butts brick or stucco to jambs |
| CAPS |
Anything used to go over an existing piece, like joints between two handrails, or the cap of a wall, etc. |
| CASE |
Framework that goes around a door or window (all symmetrical cases are in the Chair Rail section). |
| CHAIR RAIL |
Pieces to go about half-way up the wall. Used chair back height to protect wall from chair damage. |
| CORNERS |
Any corner pieces, radius or sharps, to cover corners |
| CORNICE |
Pieces used in stacking multiple patterns on top of each other, Hides curtain rods, hooks ect. |
| COVES |
Similar to Crowns, but nearly symmetrical |
| CROWN |
Mouldings that connect the ceiling and wall. Upper most part of a room. Bevels set height & projection. |
| DADOS |
Various widths and depths of plows. |
| DENTIL |
Used underneath a crown, to make crown height/design more extravagant. |
| DOOR COPE |
Any type of door stile within a rail door. Stiles are the vertical sections in a door, rails are the horizontal section. |
| DOOR RAIL |
Used for Cabinetry stile & rail doors. Kitchen cabinets, etc. |
| EDGES |
Profiles that run from the side cutter head in a moulder. |
| FLOOR RAIL |
Spindles from a handrail sit inside this and it is secured to floor. |
| FLUTED |
A type of casing used with Plinth blocks, and Rosettes |
| FULL ROUNDS |
Complete circular pieces. |
| HALF ROUNDS |
Half circular pieces. |
| HAND RAIL |
Hand Rails are what we grab onto in stairways, hallways, ect. |
| JAMBS |
Between the casings on insides of the doorway. Some with grooves are for use with a piece of weather stripping. There are both exterior & interior types of jambs. |
| MULLIONS |
A slender vertical dividing bar between the lights of windows, screens, etc. |
| NOSING |
Stair edges or counter-top edges, Bullnose's. Any piece used on the face of an edge. |
| OGEE |
Double curve, 1/4 of each circle on a tangent, to form like a "S" many different uses for these patterns |
| PANEL MOULDS |
Any mould with a rabbited edge to go around a panel. |
| PICTURE FRAME |
Mouldings used to make a picture frame. |
| PLANT ON |
A wood piece of moulding placed on top of an existing piece of wood, to add to the design. |
| PLINTH BLOCK |
Goes around the bottom of the doorway, column, or pier. Used with base to increase spread/decoration of area. |
| RABBETS |
One-sided plow. Various sizes. |
| RADIUS |
Anything with a know radius. Corners, etc. |
| RAISED PANEL |
Decorative edges given to panels to make them seem inlaid in a door, cabinet, or wall section. Popular in stile & rail doors. |
| SCRIBE |
Thin pieces of wood used between cabinetry and walls to hide gaps. |
| SHIPLAPS |
Typically used for siding. Any wood pieces that overlap one another, without a tongue and grove joint. |
| SHUTTER PARTS |
All components related to shutters. |
| SILLS |
Wood going between windows or doorway pieces. |
