American cherry, one of the most sought after domestic hardwoods, is extremely popular in flooring. The sapwood is a cream color and the heartwood of cherry naturally darkens with age and exposure to light. The heartwood varies from a warm red to a rich, reddish brown.
The grain is uniform and straight with a smooth, satiny texture. Brown flecks and small gum pockets may occur naturally. Its fine, even texture gives cherry wood a clean workability. When sanded and stained, it produces an excellent, smooth finish giving American cherry its luxurious classic look.
